Cat vs. Rat MTV had a competition where you were supposed to chose one of the offered songs and make some kind of animation for it. It could be no longer than 1 minute. I decided to give it a go, but didn't win, I'm afraid. The song I chose was Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill! Obviously, the song is about some sort of blood-thirsty cat, which is why I created a kind of Tom & Jerry animation, with a cat chasing a rat. I went with a semi-cartoonish design, with gradients as fillings instead of flat colours. Both the gradients and the outlines in every shader reacted to light. The more light falling on the shader, the thinner the outline. Completed in a month's time (in my spare time) with Brazil r/s for rendering. Combustion was used for motion blur, some volumetrics effects and motion tracking for the text effects. |
